1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Speleo Studio ("the Application", "we", "our", or "us"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the above, please do not use this service.

Speleo Studio is a web-based application for cave visualization and survey management. These Terms of Service govern your use of the Application.

2. Description of Service

Speleo Studio is a free, open-source web application that provides:

3D visualization of cave systems and survey data
Tools for managing and editing cave survey data
Import and export capabilities for various file formats
Optional Google Drive integration for data backup and synchronization

The Application runs entirely in your web browser and processes data locally on your device. No server-side processing of your data occurs unless you explicitly enable the Google Drive integration feature.

3. License and Open Source

Speleo Studio is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. The source code is available on GitHub. You are free to:

Use the Application for any purpose, including commercial use
Modify the source code
Distribute the Application or modified versions
Contribute improvements back to the project

Your use of the Application is subject to the Apache License 2.0 terms, which can be found in the LICENSE file in the source code repository.

4. User Responsibilities

4.1 Appropriate Use

You agree to use Speleo Studio only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not:

Infringe on the rights of others
Violate any applicable laws or regulations
Interfere with or disrupt the Application or servers
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any systems
Use the Application to create or distribute malicious content

4.2 Data Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

Backing up your data regularly
Ensuring the accuracy of your cave survey data
Protecting your Google Drive credentials if you use the Google Drive integration
Complying with any local regulations regarding cave survey data

5. Data Storage and Privacy

Speleo Studio stores data locally in your web browser. You are responsible for:

Managing your browser's storage capacity
Backing up important data
Understanding that clearing browser data will delete all locally stored information

6. Google Drive Integration

If you choose to use the optional Google Drive integration:

You must have a valid Google account
You grant the Application permission to access your Google Drive for the purpose of syncing your cave data
Your use of Google Drive is subject to Google's Terms of Service
You are responsible for managing your Google Drive storage and permissions
You can revoke access at any time through the Application settings or your Google account settings

Important: The Application only accesses folders it creates in your Google Drive. We do not access, read, or modify any other files in your Google Drive account.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

The Application will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
Defects will be corrected
The Application is free of viruses or other harmful components
The results obtained from using the Application will be accurate or reliable

You use the Application at your own risk. The Application is provided for informational and visualization purposes only and should not be used as the sole basis for critical decisions regarding cave exploration or safety.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPERS, CONTRIBUTORS, OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS OF SPELEO STUDIO BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:

Your use or inability to use the Application
Any errors or omissions in the Application
Any loss or corruption of data
Any unauthorized access to or use of your data
Any interruption or cessation of the Application

Safety Notice: Cave exploration involves inherent risks. Speleo Studio is a visualization and management tool and should not be used as a substitute for proper safety equipment, training, and precautions when exploring caves. Always follow established safety protocols and local regulations.

9. Intellectual Property

The Application and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by the developers and contributors and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

However, as an open-source project under the Apache License 2.0, you have certain rights to use, modify, and distribute the Application as specified in the license.

Any data, cave surveys, or content you create using the Application remains your property. We do not claim ownership of your data.

10. Third-Party Services and Libraries

Speleo Studio uses the following third-party services and open-source libraries:

Three.js - 3D graphics library (MIT License)
Tabulator.js - Data table library (MIT License)
Google Drive API - Optional integration (subject to Google's Terms of Service)

Your use of these third-party services may be subject to their respective terms and conditions.

11. Modifications to the Application

We reserve the right to:

Modify or discontinue the Application at any time
Update the Application with new features or bug fixes
Change the terms of service (with notice via updated date)

We are not obligated to provide support, maintenance, or updates to the Application, though we may do so voluntarily.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Application at any time. Since the Application runs locally in your browser, you can simply close the browser or clear your browser data to effectively "terminate" your use.

If you are using the Google Drive integration, you can revoke access through the Application settings or your Google account settings.

13. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Application is developed, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms of Service is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

15. Entire Agreement

These Terms of Service, together with the Privacy Policy and the Apache License 2.0, constitute the entire agreement between you and the developers of Speleo Studio regarding the use of the Application.

16. Changes to Terms of Service

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Application after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms of Service.

We encourage you to review these Terms of Service periodically to stay informed about your rights and obligations.
